Bristol Sea Shanty Shout Concert
Bristol Sea Shanty Shout returns
We're proud to once again be part of the Bristol Sea Shanty Shout, returning on 19 and 20 September for a fantastic weekend of live music, community spirit and fundraising across Bristol's historic harbour.
This year's festival is raising vital funds for the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA), helping to fund free community prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening events following recent changes to national NHS testing guidelines.
As part of this important initiative, funds raised through the festival will support a major PSA testing event at Bristol Dockyards' Great Eastern Hall early next year, with the capacity to screen around 300 men. These free community testing events provide a vital health lifeline, helping to ensure early diagnosis remains accessible across the region.
The need for this support has never been greater. The NHS recently retired the Prostate Cancer Risk Management Programme, which previously enabled men over 50 without symptoms to access a free prostate cancer check. SPSA continues to use charitable donations to deliver free, discreet testing events, helping local people access potentially life-saving screening.
Now in its eighth year, the Bristol Sea Shanty Shout is delivered in partnership with Underfall Yard, Bristol Dockyards and High & Dry Shanty Crew. Festival-goers can enjoy performances from more than 26 sea shanty crews across four unique waterfront venues: Underfall Yard, Bristol Dockyards' Great Eastern Hall, MV Balmoral and The Nova Scotia.
All venues are free to enter during the day. Underfall Yard will also host a ticketed evening concert on Saturday, with 50% of proceeds donated to SPSA. High & Dry Shanty Crew also supports the RNLI and Children's Hospice South West through its fundraising activities.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Great Eastern Hall and supporting this wonderful community event that combines great music with a truly important cause.
19th and 20th of September.

“Hosting the Sea Shanty Shout is always a highlight in our calendar: We love seeing new and returning guests enjoy their time at Underfall Yard by singing along to some great music. Sea shanties have had a huge revival in recent years, and it is a bonus that our ticketed concert will now fund life-saving health checks for an audience that is also committed to supporting local maritime industries.”
“We are so excited to be back by the Floating Harbour and working with our partners to deliver another amazing festival. Rousing shanties and stirring songs of the sea will resound across the harbour from 12 noon until 11pm on Saturday, and 12 until 6pm on Sunday. So far the festival has raised around £30,000 for good causes and this year we are supporting the Somerset Prostate Support Association, who’s mission to provide accessible PSA testing has never been more important. Over the years that we have worked with SPSA we know for a fact that lives have been saved, and to do this through such a fun event is a fantastic win-win.”
