Someone climbing the rigging of the SS Great Britain

Feeling adventurous? Your group could discover what it was like to be a Victorian seaman of the SS Great Britain and climb the ship’s rigging 25 metres above sea level. Those brave enough can even edge out 9m over the Great Western Dockyard for hands down the best birds-eye view in Bristol.

FAQ

There are four coach parking spaces available in the Maritime Heritage Centre short stay car park adjacent to Brunel’s SS Great Britain. These are first-come, first-served and cannot be pre-booked. Please visit bristol.gov.uk for up-to-date information and prices. Alternative coach parking spaces in the city can be found at travelwest.info.
Coach drivers for booked groups receive a free tea or coffee voucher from the Visitor Centre, which can be redeemed in the Board Walk restaurant.

You are welcome to bring food and drink with you - please be respectful of your surroundings and other visitors, and please dispose of rubbish correctly.  
A fresh water tap is located in the Riggers Yard.
Whilst we do not allow food and drink in inside spaces, there is seating available in the dockyard and in Brunel Square (just outside the main entrance to Bristol Dockyards). The Riggers’ Yard can be reserved for school and youth groups – other groups may request use of this space on a case-by-case basis. Our on-site restaurant The Board Walk is open from 8:30am, Tuesdays to Sundays.
